I can barely concentrate on anything today - my parents are arriving in Dunedin this afternoon for 4 weeks!!! I'm so excited. I hope Elmer naps...

I photographed Yoel and Nick last weekend. It was cold and drizzly, but made for very romantic lighting. We started out at their place, a house they are currently renovating. It was Yoel's suggestion and I love it! I think it's great to not only capture portraits of the people you are today, but also your surroundings and your story.

Speaking of stories, we also visited the site of Y and N's first date. Nick didn't pick up Yoel in his car because he thought that might seem too keen. Funny! And then the second date he forgot his wallet so Yoel had to pay. He must have made quite an impression otherwise though because these two are getting married at the start of April. They're great fun, I really like them, so I'm looking forward to the wedding.

I love all the gritty little spots Dunedin has to offer. Isn't that a great red brick/mustard combo?

For my Facebook fans (woohoo I have fans!!) this was the WINDY wedding I mentioned a couple of weeks back. The kind of wind that gets news coverage and leaves tree branches scattered all over my road. Wind is a tricky one, because whilst with rain you can hide under an umbrella and save your hairdo, wind will get you no matter where you try and hide. If you're expecting a bit of wind on your wedding day (or even if you aren't), pack a super-strong hairspray and about 300 extra kirby grips (hair clips) for your veil.

However, it does make for some sexy photos!! Sean and Sacha got married in St Joseph's Cathedral in Dunedin followed by a reception at The Dunedin Club. Which is a little tucked away gem that I only found as a result of this wedding. Sacha was a tad late for the ceremony (15 mins = tiny bit late, 40 mins = tad late, over an hour = worryingly late). This was in part due to a runaway wedding car - down a big hill!!! I don't have the full story but I think a bridesmaid leapt into said wedding car to save the day! I hope that's true.

Sean and Sacha have been together forever and are utterly comfortable with eachother - in a good way - and totally at ease infront of the camera. They are also muchos in love, mmmmmmmm.

Ahhhh. Thank you for being so lovely Sean and Sacha, speak soon.

In other, less cheery news... our Mother Duck is dead. If you aren't sure who I mean, you can see an image I posted of her when she first arrived here with her ducklings. I feel really sad about this. Steven noticed that she was looking a bit listless last night, and then this morning he found her at the back of the chicken/duck enclosure, and she'd died in the night. He thinks Hussein is responsible. Hussein and Mavis have taken over where the kray twins left off, and have apparently been bullying the ducks, even though the ducks are lovely sweet creatures and generally keep to themselves. Steven witnessed Hussein and Mavis attacking Mother Duck the other day... I don't want to point fingers but....

The rest of the ducks have now been moved to our new pond at the bottom of the land. I will pop out now and see if they are okay and post up a photograph. Poor duckies.....

Sinead Photo:

Thank you Liana!! I'll have to add babysitting to your list of wedding skills. Yes poor mother duck. Hopefully she's not in the same bird-heaven as Reggie the evil chicken....

Paul and Stacey are like a celebrity couple in Dunedin. It seems like every time I meet with clients, or chat with someone who visits my blog they say "Oh and you're photographing my friends Paul and Stacey in February..." or "I saw Stacey and Paul's engagement photographs on your blog!" or "I thought I'd contact you since I know you're photographing Paul and Stacey's wedding..." Seriously!

So now I feel like a celebrity gossip magazine with an exclusive on the wedding images. The wedding was so much fun (as I knew it would be), and pretty eventful photography-wise. We had a lil' mishap following the wedding cars, got stuck briefly behind a car crash, visited the scene of a very recent crime (something I definitely don't condone by the way...), slung some guns around and I almost had my camera chopped in half with a golf club. By Stacey! Luckily we're all still friends (I think), and I feel very lucky to have been hired by two such cool cats.

Nathan and Nicola got married in Mosgiel on a perfectly hot and sunny day. They are so suited to eachother and make the cutest couple. The wedding was relaxed, happy and really good fun, which is pretty much what they were planning. Speeches were kept to a minimum so the party could start without delay...

Here are some of my favourites. Not much time to type since I'm just back from a wedding up in Hawkes Bay (Hastings area) and am off to another wedding today! In the meantime I'm off to cuddle my baby in the sun...

Bede Beaumont catered - I love these cute little cheeseburgers. Oh, and they had really tasty little rare beef and mustard canapes. I love mini food!

Susan and Andrew are NZers who now live in Belgium, speaking between them all the languages of the world (that's a slight exaggeration but not by much). They travelled back to Dunedin for their wedding which was a very classy, intimate occasion. This wedding had me thinking of classic black and white photography, a la 1950s Paris. Plus I think Susan has a very classical look about her that lends itself to b&w photography..

Alana at PlanitPerfect co-ordinated the day. It's the first time I've worked with her and she was lovely. I think the website may be down but she's in the book if you want to look her up, or look here
