About Me

Hi! Welcome to my new blog. You'll find images here from my latest wedding and portrait shoots as well as other random happenings. Use the new menu bar to navigate around... For those of you who haven't just travelled through my website to get here, here is the link: www.sineadjenkins.com. You can find entries in my old blog here: www.sineadphoto.blogspot.com.

Gemma and Jordan are possibly the most excited-to-be-engaged people I've ever met! They're fabulous. They also have a hilarious dog called George (a girl), who managed to feature in quite a few of these shots. George has her own bedroom. I'm keeping that information quiet around here...

Lush. Isn't it beautiful afternoon light at this time of year?

Elmer is a lot better. He's well enough to be WIDE AWAKE at 9.30pm (yawn).

I can barely concentrate on anything today - my parents are arriving in Dunedin this afternoon for 4 weeks!!! I'm so excited. I hope Elmer naps...

I photographed Yoel and Nick last weekend. It was cold and drizzly, but made for very romantic lighting. We started out at their place, a house they are currently renovating. It was Yoel's suggestion and I love it! I think it's great to not only capture portraits of the people you are today, but also your surroundings and your story.

Speaking of stories, we also visited the site of Y and N's first date. Nick didn't pick up Yoel in his car because he thought that might seem too keen. Funny! And then the second date he forgot his wallet so Yoel had to pay. He must have made quite an impression otherwise though because these two are getting married at the start of April. They're great fun, I really like them, so I'm looking forward to the wedding.

I love all the gritty little spots Dunedin has to offer. Isn't that a great red brick/mustard combo?

Anna and Phil live in Christchurch, and I only met them last week when they travelled down to Dunedin for a few days. We met up early on Sunday morning for our planned Engagement Session. They told me about their lucky earthquake escapes (Anna works out of town and Phil happened to be away with work), and we had a brief chat before getting on with our photographs.

These two are such lovely people, I felt instantly at ease talking with them. Their wedding up in Oamaru is next week (!!) and it sounds beautiful. They're not having a bridal party at all, so we can concentrate on all the images I love - just the two of them together.

This was a good practice session - and an unusual time of day for me to be photographing. Actually an unusual time of day for me to be up and dressed! But the light is beautiful in the morning, and well worth it.

Phil met Anna when he was a student at Otago Boys (she was at St. Hilda's). They've been together 11 years! Doorway below is the main entrance at Otago Boys...

This is Shelley:

Shelley-and-Bailey150.jpg

She's been apprenticing/second shooting with me on some of my recent weddings, and is such a funny, warm person to have around. Shelley is from South Africa, but moved over to NZ a couple of years ago. She is incredibly keen to learn, very creative, and very talented. I'm looking forward to seeing her business grow here! Her and Bailey are getting married next month in Arrowtown, and since Shelley knows the value of having a pre-wedding photoshoot, we set up an engagement shoot last week in Dunedin.

The good thing was, we've been having such lovely, summery weather we knew that an evening shoot would be really warm and pleasant. Except on Saturday...... when it was FREEZING!!! I tell you what, I had a thermal top on and a coat, and my fingers were still going slightly numb. Shelley and Bailey dressed for summer, but don't they look really warm, and happy... and young..... and in love?!

Well, aren't I the fancy-pants flying up to Auckland for a photoshoot?! I had a fantastic day with Emily and Dixon, who seem to me such a perfect match for eachother they are like one seamless EmilyDixonUnit. They'd have to be pretty good at working together since they run a business creating exciting websites for people. Dixon is the coding/back-end genius and Emily is the designer/creative genius.

As we drove to the spots I'd picked out for the shoot Dixon drove and Emily read the map. There were NO arguments. I told Steven about this when we got home, and Steven pretended to be busy folding nappies.

I've always loved dark, foresty places... and in New Zealand - dark, bushy, ferny places.

And we found the coolest field with a bumpy fence-line:
