I shot Sam and Simon's Engagement Shoot in Clyde, Central Otago. They live in Wellington but flew down for Simon's mother's birthday in nearby Alex. It's always sunny over there. People in Central Otago laugh at the amount of rain we get here on the east coast, ha ha ha.... So when I drove to Clyde on a beautifully sunny day recently I had in mind plans for a lovely afternoon (sunny) shoot. When I got about 30 minutes from Clyde and saw a big bank of black cloud hovering over the hills I was pretty surprised - it was one of those weather systems that seems to start abruptly after one little peak in the road. I looked back at the blue skies of Dunedin and headed in to find some wet weather spots!

Turns out Sam and Simon almost didn't make it because the winds were so extreme it made for difficult flying.

It rained for about 90% of the shoot, but we ran with it, and Sam and Simon are just so freaking happy and in love that the cold and the wet didn't seem to intrude on them at all. I'm looking forward to the wedding, I'm hearing lots of very cool ideas already :)

And tomorrow, I WILL go out and photograph the state of the house, and blog it..............

Zombie Engagement

Sarah and James got married on Saturday and played this video at their wedding reception. Traditionally at Malaysian weddings the guests watch a slideshow of engagement images that typically involve flowers and sunsets. James and Sarah aren't the flowery sunset type.

Sarah saw this zombie idea online and came to me with it. I was like, Are You Serious???!!!??

She was. We had SO much fun making this....

Thank you SO much to Andy for zombying for us (what an amazing guy - he totally volunteered his services for this), to Liz the bridesmaid for doing the VERY effective makeup and to both Liz and Emma for showing up the day after the Hens night and being really patient with me. Also thanks to the people in the Botanic Gardens who politely avoided us.

that was brilliant!! I can't believe I didn't get to come on that shoot, what a hoot!! seriously like quite random but that is what made that so cool...awesome idea Sarah and James and awesome capturing of it Sinead!! That Andy was very good and Liz and Emma had the best ahhhhhhh expressions

Rachel and Rodney, Engagement Session

Winter photoshoots are always slightly risky in Dunedin, because on the one hand we could have a freezing cold, windy, wet day, or we could have a lovely mild sunny day. This was one of the latter. If the sun does come out, it's my favourite light of the year.

Rachel and Rodney are very sweet, as you can see here.

It was a bit cold for no sleeves but Rachel is made of sterner stuff than me :)

Gemma and Jordan, Engagement Shoot, Dunedin

Gemma and Jordan are possibly the most excited-to-be-engaged people I've ever met! They're fabulous. They also have a hilarious dog called George (a girl), who managed to feature in quite a few of these shots. George has her own bedroom. I'm keeping that information quiet around here...

Elmer is a lot better. He's well enough to be WIDE AWAKE at 9.30pm (yawn).
