June 13, 2011 // Personal
The straw has arrived for the walls of our house. This comes as a bit of a relief actually because it's been a long wet summer with conditions that aren't ideal for drying out and baling straw. We intended to have hay cut on our property, but we didn't have a few successive days of dry weather for the last few months, and weren't able to have it cut. We might have to buy some in to feed the cattle over winter!

So having these bales safely tucked away in the barn makes us feel good. The roof is going on this week (YEAHHHHH!!!!!) and things are looking up.

You may notice Elmer has a rash on his face in the image above... the rash developed later on that day into something very unpleasant, and we ended up in A&E! It was pretty awful, and we didn't get home until 3.30am, but he is absolutely fine now. He was diagnosed with a condition called HSP which can affect children after they have a chest infection. The doctor said he got off very lightly considering. Poor boy. He did enjoy saying "HI!" to the people in the Emergency waiting room, and now and again poking a woman on the bum (it protruded behind her seat), to provide us with some occassional light relief!
