It was so lovely to hang out in Wanaka for a very short amount of time with my sister and Elmer. I can't wait to do more of this soon.

Bum-Shuff caused quite a stir in the restaurant!
The day before the ceremony was hot, sunny and calm, but unfortunately D day was cold, cloudy and very, very windy (it seems my wedding-weather luck has run out). Some of the spots we'd chosen for location photographs had to be ditched because the gales were too strong, but I actually prefer more sheltered spots - I like the more interesting light and the cosy enclosed feel. We did brave the shores of Lake Wanaka for about 20 seconds and I snapped a few images whilst trying not to get blown away...
These two are lovely, generous people and included me in their meal plan. I tell you what, the food at The Venue is AMAZING! Wowee. I have another wedding here in July (Karina and Nick - Chief Bridesmaid and MC for Chris and Sarah) and I can't wait!!

Cute!!

Lush. I really like Wanaka, and I can't wait to go back with Steven for a proper little holiday when the house is built!
I know it's a very blokey thing to say, but - cool car!
(02.05.11 @ 07:26 AM)Totally cool car.
(02.11.11 @ 11:31 PM)My run of incredible wedding-weather-luck continues! (I hope I haven't jinxed that by stating it on the blog...) I left Waitati on Sunday morning under cold, heavy clouds. By the time S & H's wedding began at Islington in Mosgiel... it was hot, sunny and beautiful. What can I say? I should charge extra.
This wedding was beautiful in a very classic way with Sienna's stunning floaty dress and hair (I love her veil), her seven bridesmaids in dusky pink, groomsmen (and woman) in simple white and black and gorgeous summery garden details. The huge established trees at Islington added a bit of gravitas to the scene, and the ceremony was intimate with lovely personal vows.
When I asked Sienna and Hayden what they fancied for our post-wedding photoshoot Sienna waved her hand and said "whatever you think!" These two are so relaxed, but especially with eachother,. They have such a lovely way together, and are obviously (to me) madly in love...

I have another double wedding weekend coming up, including a trip to Wanaka!
Great photos Sinead! I love the veil too and the effect when draped over the happy two....lovely romantic feel, whilst the seven bridesmaids and the huge numbered background create such a sense of drama. I'm intrigued by the girl in black on the left.

(01.27.11 @ 04:53 AM)Clever whippet...you really ARE a ninja!!
(01.27.11 @ 02:31 PM)You look absolutely beautiful -love yours and bridesmaids dresses.
(02.24.11 @ 02:03 PM)Love the Bridesmaids Dressers do you know if that wear made or brought
(01.15.12 @ 07:45 PM)Hmm, I think they were bought. Sienna lives in Oz, I can ask her if you like?
(01.15.12 @ 11:02 PM)Steven found him this morning lying in the grass. He thinks a stoat got him. I'm quite sad - I liked Hussein and his gentlemanly ways. He's certainly had his moments....
We got him just over 2 years ago, and kept him in a cage until we made him a chicken coop. He made a grand attempt at escape, and had Steven chasing him over fences, under bushes, across paddocks. One of the funniest sights I've ever seen I think. We named him Hussein (mistakenly at the time) after Usain Bolt, the 100m champion.
He used to stand with Donna and Mavis, staring in at me (when we lived in a tent!!!) for long periods of time...
He made suspicious footprints in our new barn, rampaged through the tent stealing my salmon dinner, and enjoyed spending time roaming around with his laydees for company.

RIP Hussein. Wherever you've gone I hope there are plenty of chicken damsels-in-distress that you can protect with your gallant rooster ways..

(01.22.11 @ 02:59 PM)It seems that the mistake i made was an obvious one. I didn't check the talons on the back of the legs. Husseins are long because of his age whereas the "prince" has short ones. They are both Rhode Island Reds and look identical. Don't understand quite how the mistake was made, afterall I've seen them closeup a number of times. Usually flying at my face in attack mode, as he gallantly defends the flock when I'm removing one for dinner. That's why I think he's great. So brave.
(01.23.11 @ 01:33 PM)1) It is a way for clients and prospective clients to get a glimpse of the type of person I am (as well as for past clients to keep in touch).
2) It's the main way in which I showcase my recent photographic work
3) It serves as a way for me to show family and friends back home what I'm up to in New Zealand.
4) It's become a bit of a diary for me - I quite like the fact that I can look back at my old work, and life!
To that extent, it's taken me a while to become comfortable with what I will share on the blog, and how honest I can be with my voice and opinions. When I started off I felt like I ought to sound like an "Fun, fresh professional photographer", whatever one of those is. It didn't sound like me. Some of the best blog advice I've received is to be YOURSELF. I love blogs where people share the nitty gritty of their existence.
Over the years I've slowly become more honest, but it's still a struggle to post certain things. When Elmer was born I worried that people might not want to book me if they thought I was too caught up in my new baby (silly hormones!). As he grew, I worried that if I blogged about Elmer hardly EVER sleeping well, they might think I was too tired to do my job properly.
I worry that my life isn't glamourous enough, that our living conditions are very basic, that photographs of me taken before midday are way too scary to post (that's probably never going to happen)..... Basically that I wouldn't match the idea people have in their heads of the type of photographer they'd like to book.
Recently I've received a few lovely emails from people about my blog, my work and my working mother status (!) Kind words and comments that have really put my mind at ease and make me feel good about sharing my work and life in all it's glory on the blog.
Here is Elmer, today... shortly after he had a major crisis moment over a box of cotton buds that wouldn't shut properly..

Butter wouldn't melt. Oh, and my sister has arrived in Dunedin for a two week holiday. Horah!!!!
I love reading your blog because it's a glimpse into your life thousands of miles away! Plus it is amazing to see you building a business, a family and a home. xx
(01.24.11 @ 05:41 AM)Thanks :)
