Kristy and Corey have been waiting a LONG time for this photoshoot. I first connected with Kristy online a couple of years ago and at that point her and Corey had already been trying for a baby for a while. I have a few friends who’ve gone through the process of trying – and failing – to get pregnant over a number of years so I know – in some small outsider way – how heart wrenching it can be.
Finally Kristy contacted me a few weeks ago to let me know she was pregnant. I instantly felt so emotional and delighted for her. To think that after all that time you are only weeks away from having your baby in your arms, in your home, and becoming a family of three is just amazing. Plus, we could finally capture Kristy looking INCREDIBLE (and pregnant) on a mild, sun drenched early winter evening. Actually it was mild for a while, and then since it’s Dunedin as soon as the sun disappeared it was freezing! So because I’m a compassionate photographer, and since Kristy had a cold, I made her frolick on the beach (at times without her cardigan) because the sunset was pink and everything looked so soft and beautiful.
Thankfully, Kristy is quietly superhuman and such a joy to photograph, her and Corey were happy to go along with all my off the cuff ideas. It’ll be lovely to see them transition very soon into parenthood.
I hope you spent the rest of the weekend recovering guys and that you’ll have me back to meet your baby very soon!
A few shots from that evening….
