Charlotte and Phil married shortly after the new year on a hot and still summers day. Even with the french doors of Charlotte’s parents house open to let some air in it was hard to feel a breeze. Her family and friends sat down to a relaxed shared lunch before the ceremony, laughing and sharing jokes, whilst Phil and his groomsmen were preparing in a rooftop hotel suite with panoramic views across Dunedin and the harbour.
Charlotte is bubbly and organized, every detail was carefully thought through months before the wedding day, despite the fact that her and Phil live in Perth, Australia (luckily their Perth family and friends can handle the NZ ‘heat’ 😉 Phil is a generous partner to Charlotte and never seems to stop smiling.
Their wedding was classically beautiful, with a ceremony in St Josephs, Dunedin, and reception at the Savoy. Charlotte had her grandmother’s ring attached to her bouquet so that in some way her grandmother could be remembered and a part of their day. With a big, close family it was important to Charlotte and Phil to include everyone at some point – parents, siblings, even all their nieces and nephews who did short readings at the church.
After the reception we headed back up to the rooftop hotel suite for some night time photographs. the air was still warm and everything felt a little bit magical. Phil and Charlotte declined the offer of a vintage car ride home and walked, hand in hand, through the centre of town. They didn’t seem to notice people staring at them. They are very close and make each other so happy, it was a pleasure to be a part of their little happy bubble for the day.
