There’s something about newborn babies that feels kind of momentous. They spend so much time sleeping, deep down in that heavy newborn sleep where they grow and process at an alarming rate. Then randomly they wake, their eyes slowly opening and shifting about. Here is this enormous, baffling world full of new sounds and bright lights.. it’s almost too much to comprehend. That deep world of sleep must seem so much more welcoming. But then, ahhh, then there is Mum and Dad, those familiar voices they know all too well, and that new but instantly comforting feeling of being held, fed, kept warm and safe.
For parents it is equally baffling and incredible. How can you love this tiny, scrunched up little person so much? How can they have taken over your world so suddenly?
Arthur’s parents had a long and difficult journey to have a healthy, happy baby, and for me that extra special appreciation shows. They completely adore him.
