I’ve known Stuart since we were both 5 years old and went to Llandaff Infants School together. He sat on a different table to me, he was clever and funny and got earache a lot. Now Stuart lives in London, the city where he met his bride Vicky, and where they got married to each other two weeks ago.
I met Vicky for the first time in New Zealand recently. She is instantly utterly likeable, and I am so happy they have found each other. They are both genuine, funny and generous, and match eachother beautifully.
Being in London was a nice refreshing change to the weddings I photograph in New Zealand. It seemed at once very familiar but also lively and different. We caught a proper London bus to the reception at London pub The Londesborough. There was proper beer served in pint glasses, good food, and some proper English weather where nobody was sure if it was going to drizzle again. The light is different in the UK too – softer and less contrasty. There is a little bit more haze.
It was a long wedding day for me, and the dancing was in full swing when I left. On one of the longest days of the year there was still light in the sky till late into the night. This was a happy, hearty and entertaining day, where all the basic stuff was done perfectly 🙂
